Melodie Vickars joins Southern Cross Pet Insurance as new Chief Marketing Officer
The first question anyone asks when someone new joins the Southern Cross Pet Insurance (SCPI) team is “do you have a pet?” And, Melodie Vickars, who started as the new Chief Marketing Officer on September 16, said “Yes – and here she is” [showing Hettie as her phone screen saver].
“This shouldn’t come as a surprise, as New Zealanders have one of the highest pet ownership rates in the world,” says Anthony McPhail, CEO for SCPI. “We’re fortunate to cover more than 65,000 pets and we’re excited to have Melodie join us to continue to work we have underway to grow that community.
“Her credentials are impeccable and we know she will bring a fresh perspective on the value we deliver to our customers, and our mission to protect the pet life.”
Vickars joins the Pet team after a brief but impactful sojourn as acting Head of Marketing and Insights for Southern Cross Travel Insurance, after a stellar career at AA insurance in brand, marketing and communications leadership roles.
“I am so looking forward to joining this team, who are passionate about looking after our furry family members. They have taken a leadership position on multiple ways owners can protect their pets including award-winning and breakthrough campaigns to raise awareness of pet insurance. We will lean into this even more in the coming months.”
Vickars has simply moved across the office from the Travel team to the Pet team and started in her new role on Monday 16 September.
