Southern Cross welcomes new Chief Communications & Brand Officer

Southern Cross has welcomed the appointment of Tony Reid as Chief Communications & Brand Officer. Reid, who started in the role earlier this month, will lead the growth of Southern Cross’ reputation and market presence – working across the range of health and insurance brands.

Nick Astwick, CEO for Southern Cross Health Society says, “We are excited to have Tony on board to support the mahi we do to deliver on our purpose to enable healthier years for more New Zealanders.

“We serve nearly one million members New Zealanders through the Society, while every year approximately 100,000 patients are supported in their health journey through our sister organisation Southern Cross Healthcare and partners Care HQ, Active+, Raise and MedPro. Together we make a significant contribution to improving health outcomes for more New Zealanders.

Reid brings a wealth of experience to Southern Cross and has held senior corporate affairs and government relations roles at Kiwibank, Suncorp New Zealand and the FMA. He started his career in broadcast journalism and worked for RNZ, the BBC, TVNZ, and TV3.

“I’m excited to be joining such a strong New Zealand brand and look forward to the role I can play in further building Southern Cross’ reputation as a for-purpose group of businesses and showcasing the positive impact we are having for Aotearoa New Zealand.
